We were fortunate that our car suffered no damage from this bird. Ground hornbills can be quite territorial and have been known to break windows attacking their own reflections! Our rental car was safe and this bird was merely curious! A good reason to always respect wildlife and try to learn about the animals you might encounter.
This handsome bird was admiring his reflection in our rental car while we were driving in Kruger National Park, South Africa. These large ground dwelling birds can fly but are often found in the grasses eating insects and other delicacies!
